Brainstorming

How often have you used brainstorming to solve a problem? Chances are, you've used it at least once, even if you didn't realize it. For decades, people have used brainstorming to generate ideas, and to come up with creative solutions to problems. However, you need to use brainstorming correctly for it to be fully effective.
Brainstorming combines a relaxed, informal approach to problem solving with lateral thinking. It encourages people to come up with thoughts and ideas that can, at first, seem a bit crazy. Some of these ideas can be crafted into original, creative solutions to a problem, while others can spark even more ideas.

Annotated Bibs.

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

In-text citations for print sources with known author.

For Print sources like books, magazines, scholarly journal articles, and newspapers, provide a signal word or phrase (usually the author’s last name) and a page number. If you provide the signal word/phrase in the sentence, you do not need to include it in the parenthetical citation.

Human beings have been described by Kenneth Burke as "symbol-using animals" (3).

Human beings have been described as "symbol-using animals" (Burke 3).
These examples must correspond to an entry that begins with Burke, which will be the first thing that appears on the left-hand margin of an entry in the Works Cited:

Burke, Kenneth. Language as Symbolic Action: Essays on Life, Literature, and Method. Berkeley: U of California P, 1966. Print..

In-Text Ciations: Author-page style

MLA format follows the author-page method of in-text citation. This means that the author's last name and the page number(s) from which the quotation or paraphrase is taken must appear in the text, and a complete reference should appear on your Works Cited page. The author's name may appear either in the sentence itself or in parentheses following the quotation or paraphrase, but the page number(s) should always appear in the parentheses, not in the text of your sentence

The Truth behind the Witch Trials.

It began with girls in the woods doing what was considered weird and unnatural, more so “Supernatural”. There were cauldrons and broomsticks, spells and incantations, prayers and chants, which all lead to the misconception of the age of witches and witchcraft. People felt as if these acts were abnormal for the sane, and blasphemous in comparison to the norm.

The Salem Witch Trials

The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. Thetrials resulted in the executions of twenty people, most of them women. The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft—the Devil's magic—and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. Since then, the story of the trials has become synonymous with paranoia and injustice, and it continues to beguile the popular imagination more than 300 years later.

The Act AGAINST AIDS.

The act against AIDS:
Although HIV statistics remain painfully high, for the first time scientists have begun to discuss the prospect of an AIDS-free generation. There’s a targeted effort to treat every HIV-infected person and a more strategic approach to investment. “The 21st century has ushered in a golden age for global health. Treatment efficacy has reached new heights: now is the time to end AIDS.” As you can see people are struggling but definetly getting closer to a cure.

The Walking Dead. (TV series)

When I first began to watch the show, it began with Rick Grimes who is a former Sheriff's deputy who has been in a coma for several months after being shot while on duty. When he awakens he discovers that the world has been ravished by a zombie epidemic of apocalyptic proportions, and that he seems to be the only person still alive. After returning home to discover his wife and son missing, he heads for Atlanta to search for his family. Narrowly escaping death at the hands of the zombies on arrival in Atlanta he is aided by another survivor, Glenn, who takes Rick to a camp outside the town. There Rick finds his wife Lori and his son, Carl, along with his partner/best friend Shane and a small group of survivors who struggle to fend off the zombie hordes; as well as competing with other surviving groups who are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive in this harsh new world...

Warm Bodies.

With much of the world's population now an undead horde, R is a young and oddly introspective zombie. While fighting with and feeding on a human scavenger party, R meets Julie and feels an urge to protect her. What happens next is the beginning of a strangely warm relationship that allows R to begin regaining his humanity. As this change spreads through the local undead population like a virus, Julie and R eventually have to face a larger issue when the very nature of their friendship is challenged. Caught between the paranoid human forces and the ferocious "Bonies", zombies who are a mutual threat, R and Julie must find a way to bridge the differences of each side to fight for a better world no one thought possible

HIV

HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system. Everyone has CD4 cells, which are also known as T-cells; most people have a pretty moderate amount. Well the virus attacks these cells using them as powerhouses for replication of itself. Without proper treatment, over time the number of CD4 cells will decrease and the virus will grow stronger which can lead to AIDS, ultimately death. Lack of education on such a serious matter is the root of the problem and epidemic. People should know what they are up against; Children should not only know, but understand what is out there in the world before they choose to become sexually active.

Night of the Living Dead

When we first entered the class and Ms. Gerald explained what would be going over, I kind of frowned at the "Zombie" Theme. I thought it would be boring and kind of irrelevant; but after we watched Night of the Living Dead, everything went very smoothly. I was able to connect with the theme and conjour up my own perception. The film as quite thrilling and exciting. I felt that it was a little corny but it got better. The film was about Barbra and Tommy visit their father's grave in a remote cemetery when they are suddenly set upon by zombies. Barbra manages to get away and takes refuge in what seems to be an abandoned farm house. She is soon joined by Ben who stopped at the house in need of gas. Beset by the walking dead all around them Ben does his best to secure the doors and windows. The news reports are grim however with creatures returning to life everywhere. Barbra and Ben are surprised when they realize there are 5 people hiding out in the basement: Harry, Helen and Judy Cooper; and a young couple, Tom and Judy. Dissensions sets in almost immediately with Harry Cooper wanting to be in charge. As their situation deteriorates, their chances of surviving the night lessen minute by minute.
